Open Letter to Clear Channel: STOP Underdeveloping Hip-Hop Culture

Image
A LOT of people are unaware of Clear Channel's influence on the worldwide attack on TRUE Hip-Hop Culture, and how Clear Channel strategically placed some so-called "Hip-Hoppers" in place to program their Black radio stations. No disrespect against a certain Doc Wynters, KJ Holiday, and a bevy of so-called "Hip-Hop and R&B" programmers who played along with the bigwigs at the largest radio conglomerate in the world to not only keep their jobs as :yes-mens", but also to play poster boy to what Clear Channel WANTS to call "Hip-Hop". FIRST of all, Hip-Hop MUST be DEFINED here. Hip-Hop is a CULTURE. This is something Doc Wynters knows or SHOULD have known as a so-called Creative Director for Clear Channel. This is something K.J. Holiday in Detroit knows or SHOULD have known as Program Director for a Clear Channel station there. If ALL of the programmers put in place at ALL of the Clear Channel radio stations KNOW what Hip-Hop is, then they s...

Sinead O'Connor's open letter to Miley Cyrus: 'Don't let the music business make a prostitute of you'

Image
By Grady Smith on Oct 2, 2013      Irish singer-songwriter Sinead O’Connor is no stranger to controversy (she famously tore up a picture of Pope John Paul II while saying, “Fight the real enemy!” on Saturday Night Live in 1992), but the 46-year-old musician finds nothing amusing about Miley Cyrus’ headline-grabbing antics — or her recent willingness to strip off her clothes.   O’Connor has penned an open letter to the artist formerly known as Hannah Montana in response to Cyrus’ recent Rolling Stone cover story, in which she explained that O’Connor’s iconic music video for “Nothing Compares 2 U” helped inspire her own “Wrecking Ball” clip — you know, the one that features Cyrus licking a sledgehammer and swinging naked on a wrecking ball. “Nothing but harm will come in the long run, from allowing yourself to be exploited,” O’Connor warns, “and it is absolutely NOT in ANY way an empowerment of yourself o...

A bill at the Massachusetts State House would “prohibit inappropriate language use by sworn law officers.” Posted by Les Masterson If a bill is approved by the legislature, police officers who swear could be disciplined and might actually lose their jobs. The legislation “An Act to prohibit inappropriate language use by sworn law officers” is sponsored by Benjamin Swan (D-Springfield) and is co-sponsored by Gloria L. Fox (D-Boston) and Paul R. Heroux (D-Attleboro). In addition to profanity, the legislation would prohibit language “of a racial, gender, ethnic, origin or religion nature” and “racial slurs” and “name-calling.” “These folks, they’re public servants. It’s unprofessional and beneath the dignity of any public servant to use that language toward the people they’re representing,” Heroux told the Boston Herald. Here is the legislation, which has been referred to the Joint Committee on Public Safety and Homeland Security: "SECTION 1...
