A judge ordered Stevie Wonder’s cousin to stand trial on an extortion charge after hearing testimony that the man and his girlfriend attempted to sell a film ranting against the singer’s treatment of his family for millions of dollars. Superior Court Judge Ray Jurado says prosecutors presented enough evidence for a jury to decide whether Alpha L. Walker and his girlfriend Tamara E. Diaz extorted Wonder by threatening to sell it to various media outlets if they weren’t paid by the Grammy-winning musician. The pair has been jailed since May 2, when they were arrested during a sting organized by Wonder’s attorney and Los Angeles police. The pair was given a $10,000 down payment on a $500,000 agreement to hand over the film footage and keep its contents confidential. A woman said she kept her boyfriend’s dead body in a chair in their southern Michigan house for more than 18 months so he could watch NASCAR races on TV. 72 year old Linda Chase, said she kept the remains of Charles Zigler clean and dressed. She often talked to the body, especially when she watched auto racing. ‘It’s not that I’m heartless… I didn’t want to be alone. He was the only guy who was ever nice to me,’ Chase said. Jackson, Michigan, police discovered Zigler’s mummified body in a living room chair last week. Authorities believe he died of natural causes at age 67 in December 2010, although Chase claimed it was last December. She said there wasn’t a bad smell. Chase has not been arrested but is being investigated for financial fraud. She admits cashing Zigler’s benefit checks after his death. ‘I’m probably going to prison,’ she said. I told them the truth. A D.C. police officer who worked as a motorcycle escort for White House officials and other dignitaries was moved to administrative duty Wednesday after he allegedly was overheard making threatening comments toward Michelle Obama, according to several police officials. Now folks are outraged he still has a job! The officer allegedly told fellow officers about his desire to kill the First Lady and then showed them the weapon he’d use to carry out the atrocious crime. The officers who witnessed the threats quickly reported it to the U.S. Secret Service. The name of the officer in question has yet to be revealed. The Atlanta, Georgia woman who plead guilty to administering silicone injections to a large female clientele banked $1.3 million from her illegal nationwide practice, according to a “conservative” estimate prepared by federal prosecutors in advance of her sentencing on a felony conspiracy charge. Investigators claim 46 year old Kimberly Smedley, showed a reckless disregard for the safety of women seeking enhanced hips and butts by injecting a staggering amount of non-medical grade silicone between 2003 and 2011 (when she was arrested by federal agents). Smedley injected her clients–usually in HOTEL rooms where she kept the silicone in a water jug for the procedures – and used ‘super glue with cotton balls to prevent silicone leaking out’ of the women’s flesh. The monster mom accused of murdering her two children last week told investigators she used the Internet to learn how to kill kids, prosecutors said Thursday. At the woman’s arraignment, lawyers outlined a horrifying series of events: Before school teacher Lisette Bamenga, 29, poisoned, drowned and then gassed her children — Trevor, 5, and Violet Lily, 4 months — she read that she needed two tablespoons of windshield wiper fluid to poison a child. Beanie Sigel was sentenced to two years in prison for tax evasion. The rapper, whose real name is Dwight Grant, failed to file tax returns from 1999 to 2005, save for one $10,000 tax payment in 2001. While earning $2.2 million in taxable income over those six years, Sigel owed the IRS $728,536. Sigel pleaded guilty to the charges in August, which stemmed only from 2003 to 2005 due to the statute of limitations. On top of two years behind bars, Sigel will have a year of supervised release during which he must reimburse all back taxes, interest and penalties. The pastor of a Baton Rouge ministry has been arrested for trying to burn her own house down. 49 year old Bridgett Barnes Steib is accused of setting the multi-alarm fire at the million dollar home she shares with her husband, Joseph Steib in Zachary. The Steibs are pastors at the Ministry of Love in Baton Rouge. An investigation by the Zachary Fire Department, the Baton Rouge Fire Department and the State Fire Marshal’s Office led to the arrest. Bridgett Steib has been charged with simple arson and arson with intent to defraud. A second woman, 42 Lucille Brown, was arrested and has been charged with simple arson in connection with the case. The Ministry of Love is a full gospel church, which Steib and her husband started in 1994 in their home. Grammy Award-winning singer Gladys Knight is the latest star to get into a music competition television show. Knight will join the ranks of celebrity judges on a TV singing competitions this fall. Knight will be the lead judge on “Apollo Live,” which will tape at New York’s iconic Apollo Theater . The show promises to put “a new spin on the venue’s Amateur Night showcase.” It will air on Centric, a cable/satellite sister channel to BET. It used to be called BET Jazz and BET J, but was rebranded in 2009. Centric was in about 28 million homes (out of 114.7 million total) until this week, when DirecTV dropped all of Viacom’s cable networks in a contract dispute. 26 Viacom properties including Comedy Central, MTV, Nickelodeon, CMT, Logo, and BET, have gone dark for DirecTV’s 20 million subscribers after both sides failed to reach an agreement over carriage fees. According to a statement released by DirecTV shortly after midnight, Viacom is looking to increase fees by up to 30% — over $1 billion. “We have absolutely no problem compensating Viacom fairly, but they have now knowingly put our customers in the unreasonable position of either accepting their extravagant financial demands or losing some of their favorite TV shows ,” said DirecTV exec VP Derek Chang. Viacom released a separate statement claiming DirecTV — America’s second largest pay-TV operator — has been enjoying “way below market rates” for the past seven years, and the fee increase amounts to only “a couple pennies per day, per subscriber.” Analysts say a dispute over programming fees was inevitable due to the signi...

NBC and Microsoft are in talks for NBC to buy the part of MSNBC.com it does not own, and the site would be rebranded NBCNews.com. NBC and Microsoft plan to announce a deal to finally part company, with the network buying back the remainder of their hugely popular MSNBC website from the software giant, say people familiar with the matter. Under the plan, officials will rebrand MSNBC.com, which consistently ranks among the top three in online news sites, as NBCNews.com. The announcement of the corporate divorce is expected within days, although there could always be a last-minute snag. Microsoft originally invested $220 million for a 50% stake in MSNBC, which launched in 1996. The software giant sold most of its control in 2005, leaving NBC with an 82% stake in the network and an option of claiming the remaining 18% after two years. Oh snap! If you were one of the millions who received federal unemployment benefits in 2011, you may be asked to pay some of that money back. A new report from the U.S. Department of Labor found the federal government overpaid recipients by $14 billion in 2011, which means 11% of the checks that were sent out contained too much money, were sent to the wrong person, or were sent to an ineligible recipient. Indiana had the highest overpayment rate at 43%. Kentucky had the lowest at 4.4%. People who were overpaid benefits likely fall into three categories: They received a check even if they were not actively searching for a job; they received a check even if they had quit or been fired from their previous job; or they had already found a new job but continued to collect unemployment benefits. Oh lawd not in da cheerch lol! A 64-year-old woman is facing an assault charge after allegedly beating a pastor in the head with a Bible during a dispute inside a Baptist church in Tennessee. Cops busted Ina Garrett for the alleged Bible thumping of Rev. Leon Taylor, who heads the Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Selmer, a city 100 miles east of Memphis. According to a court complaint, McNairy County Sheriff’s Department deputies were summoned to the church in late-May to deal with a “lady that was unwanted.” Taylor told investigators that Garrett had been voted out of the church. During the church confrontation, “Ms. Garrett took her Bible and threw it at Mr. Taylor hitting him in the face.” Taylor then took a swing at Garrett, but did not make contact.
