In an interview with BlackBerry Radio, Tempest explained her reason for producing the event in honor of the icon: "It was a small portrait of a woman on my grandfather's dresser that I used to walk past all the time. I probably walked past that photo about 15 years with no knowledge of who this woman was in the portrait." The Gospelfest is Boston’s premier Gospel showcase that attracts over 20,000 spectators annually. The GospelFest 2015 featured performances by some of New England's finest Gospel acts and choirs, including Jubilee Praise. Past headliners include Grammy Award winning artist Israel and the New Breed, Dottie Peoples, Bryan Cage and Kirk Franklin.
