Racist Police Officers Fired Because of Leaked Text Messages
When Montgomery County Sheriff’s Department revealed that five of their deputies were under investigation for sending racist messages, few imagined that it would be as bad as what the department released. Sheriff Phil Plummer revealed that Sheriff’s Captain Thomas J. Flanders and Detective Michael J. Sollenberger were both placed on indefinite administrative leave, from the Ohio department, after someone leaked dozens of racist text messages they had been sending to each other and three other deputies. Captain Flanders was the head of the Montgomery County Jail, where many allegations of racism and discriminatory treatment of inmates has been common throughout the years.
