Racist Police Officers Fired Because of Leaked Text Messages

Image
When Montgomery County Sheriff’s Department revealed that five of their deputies were under investigation for sending racist messages, few imagined that it would be as bad as what the department released. Sheriff Phil Plummer revealed that Sheriff’s Captain Thomas J. Flanders and Detective Michael J. Sollenberger were both placed on indefinite administrative leave, from the Ohio department, after someone leaked dozens of racist text messages they had been sending to each other and three other deputies. Captain Flanders was the head of the Montgomery County Jail, where many allegations of racism and discriminatory treatment of inmates has been common throughout the years. Sollenberger, for his part, has been involved in internal affairs, which would in fact be the unit which investigated such allegations… See how that works? Sollenberger was also a member of the Montgomery County SWAT team. The messages, sent between November 2011 and January 2013 made direct dero

Brown Attorney Issues Statement On False Reports About Bobbi Kristina

Image
ATLANTA — An attorney for Bobby Brown has issued a statement refuting dire reports about Bobbi Kristina’s condition.   People magazine had published an online article Thursday morning stating that family members were gathering to "say goodbye". The attorney released the following response: "There is no 'family gathering' today that is any different from any other day since (Bobbi Kristina) has been in the hospital -- the family has been there since the weekend, so nothing any different today for them to be there than any other day. She is not brain dead, and the Houstons and the Browns are not fighting.” The daughter of late singer Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown was found unresponsive in a bathtub Saturday. She was taken to North Fulton Hospital and then moved to Emory University Hospital Tuesday. Family members have asked for prayers and privacy.

How to Properly Adjust Your Federal Income Tax Withholding Allowances

Image
By Casey Slide  My husband and I recently did our taxes, and we were shocked by the amount of money we were being refunded by the government. At first we were elated because it was enough to pay off our car, so that we would now be able to live debt free . At the same time, we were kicking ourselves for not having this money available for use during the past year. Maybe you’ve had a similar experience – or the opposite (and decidedly less pleasant) one where you’ve had to pay more money in federal taxes than you expected. Regardless, the issue is the same. In both these situations, the amount of taxes being withheld from your paycheck is not coinciding with the amount of taxes that you are required to pay. The best way to fix this is to adjust your federal tax withholdings, which you can do in a few simple steps. But first, let’s look at how to decide if you need to make an adjustment. When Should You Adjust Your Tax Withholding? 1. You Got a Big Refund If you rece

Actor in Mark Wahlberg Films Killed by Massachusetts Police

Image
A Massachusetts man who had small roles in major Hollywood movies was fatally shot early Monday by police officers who had responded to a fatal stabbing, authorities said. Paul Campbell, 49, was agitated and armed with at least one knife when police arrived to the Weymouth home he shared with his mother, who was dead of multiple stab wounds, NBC affiliate WHDH reported. The two officers who responded to a 911 call from the home made simultaneous decisions to shoot Campbell, and both struck him, officials said.  He was taken to South Shore Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Campbell's mother, 72-year-old Patricia Campbell, was found fatally stabbed at the front of the house, police said. The district attorney is investigating the police shooting, and wouldn't say whether Paul Campbell lunged at officers or whether their actions were justified, WHDH reported. Campbell was childhood friends with Boston native Mark Wahlberg, who scored

The first photos of Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis ‘ new baby, Wyatt Isabelle, surfaced on Twitter earlier this week. As you may recall, this is not technically the first time a photo of Wyatt has hit the Internet. Back in October, Ashton took to his website to share pictures of numerous babies, teasing, “One of these is Mila and Ashton’s baby… and her name is Wyatt.” Ashton later explained the origin of Wyatt’s name while on ‘Conan.’ “We were going to a Lakers game and I’ve got name Tourette’s,” he recalled. “I just started listing off anything and everything that I saw. I was like, ‘Sign! Truck! Wall! Door!’ [Mila's] like, ‘Shut up!’ I’m like, ‘If you don’t accept my bad ideas, you’ll never accept the good ones.’ Then I was l

Will Ferrell's post- Super Bowl lips sync performance of "Drunk In Love" by Beyonce was incredible. Ferrell rocked out to Beyonce's hit during The Tonight Show 's live Superbowl Sunday special, and received a standing ovation after doing Beyonce's trademark moves. After Ferrell floored it, Jimmy Fallon said, "You can't unsee that." Nuff said. Here's the video below:

Questions Over Brain Disease Again Stymie NFL Concussion Settlement

Image
In yet another setback for the NFL as it seeks to end a years-long legal battle over concussions, a federal judge on Monday declined for a second time to sign off on a proposed settlement between the league and thousands of former players who have filed suit over past head injuries. The decision by U.S. District Judge Anita Brody marks the second time that the agreement — which would pay out approximately $1 billion over 65 years — has failed to win final approval. In a three-page order issued just a day after Super Bowl XLIX, Brody requested the two sides do more to compensate players suffering from symptoms of chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE), a degenerative brain disease that has been discovered in 76 of 79 NFL players posthumously tested at the nation’s leading brain bank for traumatic brain injury. Under the outline of the proposed settlement, beneficiaries of a player found to have died from CTE would be eligible for a payment of $4 million. The catch,

Suge Knight Bail Revoked; Considered a Flight Risk

Image
LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Former rap music mogul Marion “Suge” Knight, founder of one of the genre’s leading labels, had his $2 million bail revoked in Los Angeles after his arrest in running down and killing a man. Los Angeles County sheriff’s spokeswoman Nicole Nishida says detectives asked a bail commissioner Monday to keep the Death Row Records founder behind bars because he is a possible flight risk.  Authorities also cited Knight’s history of violent crimes and the possibility he would intimidate witnesses. Police allege Knight, who started the music label that helped solidify West Coast rap, killed a man and injured another by hitting them with his pickup truck Thursday. Attorney James Blatt says Knight accidentally ran over the men as he tried to escape a vicious attack. Knight is scheduled to appear in court in Compton Today.
