Judge says Arizona can enforce most contentious part of immigration law

Image
By Bill Mears , CNN Supreme Court Producer Protesters gathered at the Arizona state capitol to demonstrate against the controversial immigration law on July 29, 2010.    A federal judge has allowed Arizona to enforce the most controversial part of its politically charged immigration law, the so-called "show me your papers" provision. In an order on Tuesday, U.S. District Judge Susan Bolton upheld the section allowing authorities, while enforcing other laws, to question the immigration status of people who may be in the United States illegally. The Supreme Court in June tossed out most other aspects of the tough new law but said the part known by critics as the "show me your papers" provision could go into effect, at least for now. The hot-button immigration issue is a major attack line in this year's presidential campaign with Republicans, led by Mitt Romney, accusing President Barack Obama of failing to devise a comprehensiv

Man WHO KILLED Niecy Nash’s Brother 19 years Ago Stabs New Wife to Death

Image
The man who killed the brother of comedian Niecy Nash has been charged with stabbing his new wife to death. Robert Heard, who fatally shot Nash’s 17-year-old brother in 1993, is the prime suspect in the death of 35-year-old Demetra Doyle Heard, whom he married in June. Police say Heard stabbed the woman repeatedly on Saturday morning at the couple’s home in Eunice, Louisiana and then fled the scene. Police captured Heard after a high-speed car chase. Heard and his wife had just married, nearly a year after his release from prison for another crime. Heard was 15-years-old when he killed Nash’s brother, Michael Ensley(ABOVE) , who was his classmate at the Reseda High School in California. He spent nine years in a juvenile correctional facility in California and was released in February 2002, when he moved to Louisiana. Within one year of his release, he got in trouble with the law again and was re-incarcerated for

WATCH: Full Secret Video of Private Romney Fundraiser

Image
On Monday and Tuesday Mother Jones published exclusive video that captured Mitt Romney speaking to donors at a May 17 fundraiser, which was held at the home of private equity mogul Mark Leder . Responding to a question about the "Palestinian problem," Romney said peace in the Middle East is not possible and a Palestinian state is not feasible, telling donors that Palestinians have "no interest whatsoever in establishing peace and that the pathway to peace is almost unthinkable to accomplish." At another point, the GOP presidential nominee told attendees of this $50,000-a-plate dinner that 47 percent of Americans—those who back President Obama—are "victims" who are "dependent upon government" and "pay no income tax." He noted: "My job is not to worry about those people. I'll never convince them they should take personal responsibility and care for their lives." These comments  set off a media firestorm and gener

DEADBEAT HOLYFIELD COULD BE HEADED TO JAIL IF HE DOESN’T PAY DAUGHTER 1/2 MILLY

Image
Deadbeat dad, Boxing champ Evander Holyfield got hit again to his financial belly. According to AJC.com, Holyfield was held in contempt of court for failing to pay $563,900 in back child support. The contempt charge stems from an initial $372,097 in child support payment Holyfield owed for daughter, 18 year old Emani Holyfield. (Seen below) That amount reportedly has swelled to $563,900. The boxing legend was held in contempt and ordered to pay $2,950 a month to clear the debt. Holyfield got a payment plan and paid $17,700 toward that debt . The judge also ordered that a percentage of Holyfield’s income be earmarked to pay down the debt. Emani is one of Holyfield’s 12 children by six women. Holyfield, who has faced financial difficulties including the recent foreclosure on his mansion near the ALT, has been sued for thousands of dollars in lapsed child support payments in Georgia, Texas and California. He has fought to renegotiate the payments, argu

CALL HIM “DEACON” DMX

Image
Just call him Deacon X. Rapper, Earl Simmons, commonly known as DMX, has always maintained that he is a spiritual man but his life as a rapper never seemed to fit that image . The rapper has put the drugs, jail, and other aspects of the life of a rapper behind him and decided to get right with God. Simmons shared that he read the whole bible and is now a deacon at the church he used to go to, Morning Star. DMX talked about the importance of being ready and willing to change saying, “The biggest step is not in the studying, reading, but the warning to change the way you live. Wanting different things for yourself, and making that change because if you still want to drink and smoke, you could read as much as you want, that doesn’t mean you’re ready…I just find myself happy with the simple things. Appreciating the blessings God gave me. Enjoying my kids more – just changing.”

NO RESPECT FOR FUNERALS ANYMORE! CHAOS BREAKS OUT DURING HIP HOP WAKE

Image
Two cops covered the back. Ten others stood guard across the street. And more hovered overhead in a helicopter. Chicago police weren’t taking chances on any gang-related disruptions Friday at the funeral of aspiring rapper Lil Jojo (SEEN BELOW) on the Southwest Side. Lil’ JoJo had been a musical rival of rapper Chief Keef (“I DON’T LIKE” Remix with Kanye ). Lil JoJo reportedly was gonna challenge Chief Keef in the studio with his next release. It is believed that Lil JoJo’s lyrics had fueled the animosity between several rival street organizations, and members of these organizations were fans of Chief Keef’s music. Lil JoJo was shot down last week while riding on the back of a friend’s bicycle through his neighborhood. Witnesses have reported that a car slowed down next to Lil’ JoJo, who was standing 0n the back of the bicycle while his friend peddled, and opened fire on the teen. Lil JoJo died of his injuries. Near the end of the 90-minute wake, police

“THIS MAN BEATS WOMEN” CHRIS BROWN CD TAGGED WITH UGLY LABEL

Image
There’s nothing out of the ordinary about an explicit lyrics advisory on a Chris Brown record. But shoppers at HMV record stores in London found the singer’s latest CD Fortune covered in a very different kind of warning label, as first reported by Gigwise. Thought to be the work of anonymous anti-domestic violence activists, the yellow stickers read, “Warning: Do NOT buy this album! This man beats women.” Brown has been dodging those kinds of allegations since the 2009 incident in which the singer beat his then-girlfriend Rihanna before the Grammys ceremony. The two have made several shows of reconciliation lately, including a public kiss and embrace at the MTV VIdeo Music Awards. But the unveiling of Brown’s new neck tattoo has left many people wondering what the singer could have been thinking. The image looks like that of a battered woman’s face — though a rep for Brown says the image is actually that of a Mexican

Usher posted up at his Alpharetta home for an installment of “Oprah’s Next Chapter,” which aired on OWN Sunday night. During the hour-long sitdown in a sunroom off Usher’s airy kitchen and a room with walls decorated with children’s artwork, Usher responded to Oprah’s questions about his failed marriage to Tameka Foster; his recently won custody battle of their two children, Usher V, 4, and Naviyd, 3; his relationship with his mom, Janetta Patton (who also appeared on the show); the tragic death of his stepson, Kile Glover; and his fidelity to Foster. Usher said he invited Oprah because he wanted her to see his “crib,” complete with treehouse in the backyard for the kids, and also so that he could “document” his experiences, with the plan to never discuss many of these issues publicly again. “I’ve been a man of integrity throughout the entire process,” he said in reference to the custody battle, which Foster appealed, but was reportedly denied. WALMART IDIOTS RIPPED WOMAN’S $100 BILLS THINKING THEY WERE FAKE

Image
A mother who says Walmart employees intentionally humiliated her after wrongfully ripping up two of her $100 bills while believing they were fake is taking legal action against the store. In her recently filed complaint, Julia Garcia is seeking no more than $74,900 in damages after detained for four hours before customers in San Antonio, Texas who were told she tried to use fake money. She says that the bill wasn’t actually tested by a counterfeit detection pen until after it was ripped, though that pen’s result was either misread or ignored by the cashier. ‘The cashier proceeded to rip the $100 bill in half without performing any counterfeit detection tests. The metallic strip in the $100 bill was clearly visible.’ After marking the bill with the detection pen, revealing a yellowish color across it, Garcia said she explained to the cashier of that color meaning it was legitimate, having previously worked in retail herse

“SHE LIED ABOUT HAVING MY BABY” WYCLEF GOES H.A.M ON LAURYN HILL

Image
So now the secrets will be revealed…maybe? Although he was married when they carried on a torrid affair, Fugees founder Wyclef Jean says it was bandmate Lauryn Hill’s lies about the paternity of her child that doomed the ’90s hip-hop trio. In his autobiography out tomorrow, Jean claims Hill tricked him into believing her firstborn son was his, when, in fact, the father was Bob Marley’s son Rohan, seen below. “In that moment something died between us. I was married and Lauryn and I were having an affair, but she led me to believe that the baby was mine, and I couldn’t forgive that,” Jean writes in “Purpose.” The Haitian-born Jean says the betrayal by Hill led to the band’s 1997 breakup. “She could not longer be my muse,” he wrote. “Our love spell was broken.” Jean admits to having many problems with his nonprofit, Yele, whose financial irregularites were first reported by The Post. STRIPPER MOM BUSTED AFTER DROPPING $9K IN FOOD STAMPS ON FAKE BOOTY

Image
During the time that Brenda Charlestain committed nearly $24,000 worth of food stamp fraud, prosecutors said she spent money on plastic surgery, an expensive car stereo system and a bright pink custom paint job for her 2008 Dodge Charger. Brenda Charlestain testified that the $9,187 worth of cosmetic enhancements, the $1,100 sound system and the other splurges were all gifts from men she met working as a dancer at adult entertainment clubs in West Palm Beach and Miami. Charlestain, 28, of Greenacres, claimed she was homeless and out of work when she applied for food stamps to feed herself and her five children, prosecutors said. She received $900 to $1,100 worth of aid per month between March 2010 and June 2012, court records show. She later admitted that during some of that time she made more than $85,000 a year working only for tips. She also paid more than $1,200 in monthly rent payments and $326 a month in car payments. Earlier this year, Charlestain pleaded g

JASMINE GUY GOING AFTER DEADBEAT BABY DADDY FOR LOTS OF $$$

Image
“A Different World” star Jasmine Guy says her ex-husband totally dropped the ball on paying his child support for the last two years to the tune of nearly $40,000, this according to court docs. Guy filed legal docs in L.A. County Superior Court recently, claiming Terrence Mitchell Duckett — who she divorced in 2008 — was ordered by a judge to pay $1,469/month in child support for the couple’s daughter. In the docs, Guy says Duckett hasn’t paid a dime since May 2010 and now owes her a whopping $39,663 in back support. Guy filed the docs because she wants a judge to hold her ex in contempt of court so that she can collect on the debt by garnishing his wages, going after his assets, or even having him thrown in jail. A hearing on the matter was scheduled for last month, but was cancelled because Jasmine was unable to serve her ex with the papers. Sources close to Jasmine say the actress is still attempting to serve the papers
