UH OH! ALICIA KEYS’ HUBBY HEADED TO JAIL IF FEDS HAVE THEIR WAY

The feds are looking for an angle that lets them prosecute Megaupload on U.S. soil and one way involves Alicia Keys’ hubby Swizz Beatz seen below on left side of pic!

They really want Kim Dotcom (seen below) , the founder of the Megaupload online file-sharing site.
The FBI alleges that Dotcom, a German national who lives in New Zealand, led a group that has netted $175 million since 2005 by copying and distributing music, movies and other copyrighted content without authorization.


Lawyers for the flamboyant entrepreneur say the company simply offered online storage.
Acting on a request from the FBI, New Zealand armed police, backed by helicopters, swept into Dotcom’s rented estate outside Auckland in January, confiscating computers and hard drives, art works, and luxury cars.

Dotcom and the three others were arrested, and Dotcom was kept in custody for a month before being granted bail. The New Zealand courts have since eased some restrictions on his movements, and he now has limited access to his multi-million dollar fortune.

Last month, a New Zealand court ruled that the warrants used in the search were illegal, and that the FBI’s copying of evidence and sending it to the United States was also unlawful.

Tweeting earlier this month, Dotcom said he was willing to go to the United States to clear his name, provided Washington unfreezes his assets so he can pay his legal costs.

A New Zealand court is due to hear an application from the U.S. authorities to extradite Dotcom on internet piracy, money laundering, and breach of copyright charges in March, although the judge scheduled to hear the case has stepped down.

The FEDS are trying to pull rapper and producer Swizz Beatz (a.k.a. Mr. Alicia Keys) into the case, by claiming he was CEO of the company.
But wait—wasn’t this cleared up in January? Although Swizz had his face plastered all over the site, was listed as CEO on the day it was taken down, and was previously very vocal about his support, his lawyer claimed he was not actualy running things.

So was Swizz or wasn’t Swizz the boss? According to U.S. Attorney Neil MacBride, Swizz Beatz repped Megaupload in an official capacity in front of the United States Trade Representative, meaning the company can be tried in the states.

Beatz is refusing to cooperate, but he might not have a choice if he’s served. And if the allegations are true, it’s puts a serious dent in the defense, which argues that Megaupload can’t be prosecuted here because it’s located outside of American jurisdiction.

Run-D.M.C. Producer Larry Smith Dead at 63

Larry Smith, producer of some of the most cherished hip-hop records of the Eighties, including Run-D.M.C. 's first two albums, died Thursday at the age of 63. Radio host Combat Jack broke the news on Twitter , writing: "Just spoke to his family. RIP Larry Smith, the original King of Beats who passed away last night." A Queens native, Smith began his career as a session musician and quickly struck up a partnership with Kurtis Blow after playing bass on "Christmas Rappin'."  Smith would continue to play on a number of Blow's tracks, co-writing a few as well, including the MC's breakthrough record, "The Breaks,"  which became the first rap record to be certified gold. Smith then began working with Blow's manager at the time, Russell Simmons.
