“IS SHE DEAD?” CISSY OPENS UP ABOUT WHITNEY, BOBBY, DRUGS & MORE!

It’s hard to believe it has been almost a year since Whitney Houston passed away. And as that sad anniversary approaches, the music icon’s mother, Cissy Houston, opens up about the loss of her daughter with Oprah Winfrey during an in-depth interview airing next Monday on the OWN network.

“My son called me and he was screaming, ‘Mom, Mommy. Oh god,’” she said about the moment she learned about Whitney’s death. “I said, ‘What’s wrong?’ He said, ‘Nippy. Nippy,” continues Cissy. (Nippy was the family’s nickname for Whitney.)
Cissy goes on to recall how her son kept telling her that he simply couldn’t go upstairs to where they had found his sister. “I said, ‘Is she dead?’ And he said, ‘Yeah, Mommy, she’s dead.’ And I don’t remember too much else after that.”

It was Feb. 11, 2012, when Whitney was found dead at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, Calif., just one day before the Grammy Awards. She was 48.
Meanwhile, all of Cissy’s interview on Oprah’s Next Chapter can be seen Jan. 28 at 10 p.m. on OWN.

As the first anniversary of Whitney Houston’s sudden death draws near, Oprah sits down with the singer’s mother, Cissy Houston, in her New Jersey home for her first in-depth, sit-down interview since her daughter’s passing.

Watch Oprah’s interview with Cissy Houston on Monday, January 28, at 10/9c.
