Mark Wahlberg Producer Issues Statement on Lou Reed’s Deatth

BOSTON, MA – Veteran Boston rapper, songwriter, producer M.C. Spice issued the following statement after learning of the death of Lou Reed:

"I wrote and produced the song "Wildside" for Mark Wahlberg when he was a rapper under the name Marky Mark. My original version played on WILD-AM radio for nearly two years, and I was inspired by Lou Reed’s original song. As a kid, I was always intrigued by his depiction of street life and by the time I became a rapper, I KNEW I had to re-create that record. His lyrics gave me the courage to tell the naked truth about Boston’s violence and racism in a rap song. Though I never met the brother, I can honestly say he played a major part in my career, and will always be remembered in music and in Hip-Hop history. Rest in peace, Lou Reed. "

Spice is a professional broadcast voice over artist and serves as Minister of Information to the universal Zulu Nation. He is currently signed to CB music Inc, a Massachusetts imprint owned by his wife, Cashawna.
