PERFORMING ARTISTS: DON'T PAY TO PERFORM
The nightclub isn't packed. The promoter isn't sure if the artist he's bringing will pack it. He also doesn't have the rest of the money he promised the artists who will be performing, because the ticket sales are low. A quick fix is to call you up and tell you that you will be on stage performing with Lil Wayne, Fetty Wap or some other major artist. He gasses you up, telling you that you will have a packed house and "some people from Wayne's camp are gonna be in the audience. This is your chance to be discovered." Now that he has your attention, and you know this is what you've been wanting all your life, you bring him the "performance fee" and you're ready to be a part of the show.
You beg at least 200 of your friends to show up and support you, but only 3 show. Your mother, Grandmother and stepdad. You've shelled out $300 to be on stage with Lil Wayne. This is your chance and your family is there to witness it all. At 7pm, you're on stage and you turn it out. You gave the people your $300 worth. LOL. You stand at the sideline hoping Lil Wayne and his people saw the show, 'cuz you KILLED it! They didn't. They weren't there. Lil Wayne's flight doesn't land until 10pm and he doesn't even go on until 1:00am. By the time Lil Wayne gets on the stage you PAID to perform on, the people forgot all about you. What separates you from Lil Wayne? The local promoter appreciates and respects Lil Wayne's talent enough to PAY HIM and PROMOTE THE SHOW. What separates you from Lil Wayne? The promoter had to pay Lil Wayne's MANAGER the money. Even if you HAD manager, your manager played you by allowing you to pay $300 to perform. What ELSE separates you from Lil Wayne? He wasn't asked to sell at least 20 tickets to get on stage.
In 2017 and beyond, NO ARTIST from New England will EVER pay to perform on ANY stage. But ALL promoters WILL pay artists for their hard work. We will keep you informed and we will work closely with artists and creative people to ensure they are compensated for their great work. If you're an artist or creative who does not yet have your company incorporated and established online, we can help. If you wish to work with any of the artists or creatives we are linked with, please email: Amir@BlackBerryRadio.com or call weekdays 8:30am - 8:30pm at 617-297-SPICE.
