This ain't no dam SLAVE RADIO

(an opinion by M.C. Spice) Dear FCC You have held back the black voice in Boston for far too long, and your bullcrap policies about having a license to broadcast is just an attempt by your organization to make money off the backs of those who are trying to give the people the information, education and music that better represents their cultures. Starting THIS MONDAY, May 21, 2012, please look for MY RADIO STATION to be broadcasted LIVE at 91.3FM in the heart of Boston. We will update you via email and telephone and here at this blog about why we are here and how we intend to stay here. We will also point out the inconsistency in your policies and show you why millions of blacks, hispanics and so-called minorities are left without a voice in mainstream media. You have held a stranglehold on our community for far too long, and we intend to disrupt your day to day activities at the old offices in Quincy, Massachusetts. You may remember me from a few years back when we showed up on ...

Geraldo Rivera - My own son ashamed of me

Image
By MJ LEE | 3/23/12 1:51 PM EDT  Geraldo Rivera’s son Gabriel is “ashamed” of his controversial comments about Trayvon Martin and his hoodie from earlier in the day, the Fox News host admitted to POLITICO. “Gabriel broke my heart. He’s my oldest, 32, and he just told me that for the first time in his life he’s ashamed of what I wrote on [Fox News Latino],” Rivera said in an email. Rivera touched off a media firestorm when he said on “Fox & Friends” and his blog that Martin – who was shot and killed by George Zimmerman, a neighborhood watch captain last month – wouldn’t have been attacked if he hadn’t been sporting a hoodie. “I am urging the parents of black and Latino youngsters particularly to not let their children go out wearing hoodies,” the Fox News host said. “I think the hoodie is as much responsible for Trayvon Martin’s death as George Zimmerman was.” In his long monologue on the air, Rivera had mentioned his other son, 24-year-old Cruz. “Wh...

Utah Governor Signs Law Mandating 72-Hour Waiting Period For Abortion

Image
SALT LAKE CITY--Utah's Republican governor signed a law extending a required waiting period for women seeking an abortion to 72 hours on Tuesday, even though a similar requirement in South Dakota has been blocked in court, a spokeswoman said. The decision by Governor Gary Herbert is expected to meet with approval from social conservatives in the heavily Republican state just four days after he upset some members of his party by vetoing a bill to curb sex education in schools.  "Governor Herbert is an adamant supporter of rights for the unborn," said Ally Isom, a spokeswoman for the governor. "He felt the bill appropriately allows a woman who's facing that decision to fully weigh her options and the implications of that decision." The state currently requires a 24-hour waiting period before an abortion. The law is the latest salvo in the long-running national battle over abortion that has seen a host of states pass laws imposing requirements on wom...

Robert DeNiro says America not ready for a white First Lady

Image
Deniro and Wife Grace Hightower WASHINGTON -- Actor Robert De Niro stumped for President Barack Obama on Monday night, joking that the country may not be ready for the white culture that each of the GOP presidential candidates would bring into the White House. "Callista Gingrich. Karen Santorum. Ann Romney. Now do you really think our country is ready for a white First Lady?" De Niro asked a crowd of Obama supporters, according to a White House pool report. De Niro was hosting a fundraiser with Michelle Obama at his New York City restaurant, Locanda Verde. The crowd "roared" in response to De Niro's question, according to the pool report, and De Niro said back, "Too soon, right?" De Niro's wife Grace Hightower also warmed up the crowd ahead of the First Lady's remarks. She ticked off Obama's accomplishments in the last three years and said he was up against "vampire energies" as he tried to get things done. Hi...

Also at the interview were brothers Randy DeBarge and James DeBarge, who defended his addiction saying "I'm not living" The doctor from a treatment clinic asked James" Are you going to continue to not live because your niece wants to talk about it?" "You have to understand, Doc. It doesn't matter. I don't care. You have to make me care. My niece has to make me care. I'm starting to learn how to care again. I don't even know what that is, man. I don't even care about me. I've never lived. I've never been here." Randy then said to the visiting doctor "It seems like my whole family is talented and smart. Tide Detergent on the Black Market. Tide Theft rising everywhere

Image
Law enforcement officials across the country are puzzled over a crime wave targeting an unlikely item: Tide laundry detergent. Theft of Tide detergent has become so rampant that authorities from New York to Oregon are keeping tabs on the soap spree, and some cities are setting up special task forces to stop it. And retailers like CVS are taking special security precautions to lock down the liquid. One Tide taker in West St. Paul, Minn., made off with $25,000 in the product over 15 months before he was busted last year. “That was unique that he stole so much soap,” said West St. Paul Police Chief Bud Shaver. “The name brand is [all] Tide. Amazing, huh?” Tide has become a form of currency on the streets. The retail price is steadily high — roughly $10 to $20 a bottle — and it’s a staple in households across socioeconomic classes. Tide can go for $5 to $10 a bottle on the black market, authorities say. Enterprising laundry soap peddlers even resell bottles to store...

American Solider Turns Himself In After Civilian Killing Spree in Afghanistan

Image
Sixteen Afghan civilians including three women and nine children have been shot dead in their homes by a rogue US soldier in a pre-dawn rampage. President Hamid Karzai condemned the slaughter on Sunday as "unforgivable" and furiously demanded an explanation from Washington. "When Afghan people are killed deliberately by US forces this action is murder and terror and an unforgivable action," Karzai said in statement. Senior US officials were scrambling to determine what caused the soldier to go on a shooting spree after leaving his base in southern Afghanistan, apparently heavily-armed and carrying night-vision equipment. Officials confirmed that the soldier was being detained in Kandahar and that the military was treating at least five wounded. One US official said the soldier, an Army staff sergeant, was believed to have acted alone and that initial reports indicated he returned to the base after the shooting and turned himself in. ...
