Gunman kills self after 2 NYPD cops fatally shot ‘execution style’ as ‘revenge’ for Garner

Two uniformed NYPD officers were shot dead Saturday afternoon as they sat in their marked police car on a Brooklyn street corner — in what investigators believe was a crazed gunman’s ­assassination-style mission to avenge Eric Garner and Michael Brown . “It’s an execution,” one law-enforcement source said of the 3 p.m. shooting. Run-D.M.C. Producer Larry Smith Dead at 63

Larry Smith, producer of some of the most cherished hip-hop records of the Eighties, including Run-D.M.C. 's first two albums, died Thursday at the age of 63. Radio host Combat Jack broke the news on Twitter , writing: "Just spoke to his family. RIP Larry Smith, the original King of Beats who passed away last night." A Queens native, Smith began his career as a session musician and quickly struck up a partnership with Kurtis Blow after playing bass on "Christmas Rappin'."  Smith would continue to play on a number of Blow's tracks, co-writing a few as well, including the MC's breakthrough record, "The Breaks,"  which became the first rap record to be certified gold. Smith then began working with Blow's manager at the time, Russell Simmons. The two co-produced a handful of tracks for Jimmy Spicer – including the oft-sampled "Money (Dollar Bill Y'All)"  – before helping make hip-hop history with Run-D.M.C.'s ...

Former Atlanta Cop Gets 10 Years for Beating White Man Becasue He Was in Black Neighborhood

  ATLANTA —A Fulton County judge has sentenced a former Atlanta police officer for using excessive force. The victim says he was attacked for being white in a black neighborhood. A jury found former officer Nick Dimauro guilty on four of five charges. He was found not guilty on one count of aggravated battery. But he was found guilty on another count of aggravated battery, guilty of aggravated assault and guilty of two counts of violation of oath of office. The judge sentenced Dimauro to 10 years, with five to serve in prison. Dimauro stopped Robert Wormley in a northwest Atlanta neighborhood at 2:30 a.m. four years ago. Wormley said Dimauro then beat him with his baton, severely injuring him. Dimauro said Wormley fought him, and he used his training to detain him. Channel 2’s Tom Jones asked the jury whether the national controversies surrounding police brutality played a role in their decision, but jurors did not want to comment. During sentencing, ...

U.S. Kills Three ISIS Leaders in Iraq Strikes

Three leaders of ISIS have been killed by American airstrikes in Iraq in the past month and a half, U.S. defense officials said Thursday. They were identified as Haji Mutazz, a deputy to the ISIS leader; Abd al-Basit, the top military commander; and Radwin Talib, who is in control of ISIS in Iraq. They were described as mid- to high-level leaders. One official called the deaths of Mutazz and al-Basit in particular a "serious blow to ISIS command and control." The official said that the setback may be temporary because ISIS has plenty of willing replacements.

L.A. Prosecutors Won’t Press Charges Against Cosby for Alleged Playboy Mansion Rape

    The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office on Tuesday declined to press charges against Bill Cosby surrounding sexual molestation allegations a woman claimed occurred in 1974. Judy Huth  alleged in 1974 when she was only 15 years old, Cosby forced her into performing a sex act on him while the two were in a bedroom at the Playboy Mansion. This latest development comes almost 2 weeks after Huth met with detectives at the Los Angeles Police Department to discuss her alleged encounter with Cosby. The Associated Press   is reporting the prosecutors office were unable to file charges against the comic due to the statute of limitations expiring. In order for D.A. to take legal action against Cosby, under the law Huth’s complaint must be filed within the same year. Man Kills ex-wife, 5 others, Wounds 1 In Custody Battle Rage; Remains At Large

Photo credit: NBC10 A manhunt is underway for a former Marine reservist who prosecutors say went on a shooting spree early Monday killing six family members, including his ex-wife, and wounding a teen in three towns across Montgomery County, Pennsylvania. Bradley William Stone, 35 of Pennsburg, is considered armed and dangerous. Montgomery County District Attorney Risa Vetri Ferman said police are actively searching for him and residents of one town are being asked to lock themselves indoors. Stone stands 5-feet-10-inches tall and weighs 195 lbs. He is believed to be clean-shaven, but earlier officials said he could have a red beard and close-cropped hair.
