The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office on Tuesday declined to press charges against Bill Cosby surrounding sexual molestation allegations a woman claimed occurred in 1974. Judy Huth alleged in 1974 when she was only 15 years old, Cosby forced her into performing a sex act on him while the two were in a bedroom at the Playboy Mansion. This latest development comes almost 2 weeks after Huth met with detectives at the Los Angeles Police Department to discuss her alleged encounter with Cosby.

The Associated Press is reporting the prosecutors office were unable to file charges against the comic due to the statute of limitations expiring. In order for D.A. to take legal action against Cosby, under the law Huth’s complaint must be filed within the same year.

Before Huth talked to police about her claims against Cosby, she filed a civil lawsuit accusing him of molestation. Cosby has maintained Huth tried to put the squeeze on him for $250,000 before her suit and has attempted to sell her story to tabloids in the past in exchange for her silence. Hurth is one of two women taking Cosby to court. Another woman is in litigation with him for defamation.

Cosby is trying to have Huth’s lawsuit tossed claiming it is barred by the statute of limitations. Last month, Hurth along with over a dozen women have come forward with claims the sitcom star sexually assaulted them.  Cosby has strongly denied the accusations against him.
