USHER’S STEP-SON LAID TO REST

Usher’s 11-year-old stepson was laid to rest Friday.

Kile Glover – the son of the singer’s ex-wife Tameka Raymond and her former partner Ryan Glover – died from heart failure on Saturday – two weeks after being left brain dead following a jet ski accident, and his funeral was held in Atlanta, Georgia.


Inside Wieuca Road Baptist Church, the Glover, Foster and Raymond families received tremendous amounts of support from many esteemed members of Atlanta’s music and political communities. Ludacris, Jazze Pha and Phaedra Parks from “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” were just some of the celebrities in attendance. The hour-long service began at 11 a.m.

Following the service Kile was buried in a nearby cemetery.
Kile was struck in the head during a jet ski collision while he was riding on an inner tube on Lake Lanier in Georgia, and he was put on life support after doctors declared him brain dead.

Usher is said to be devastated following the loss of his stepson, but the 33-year-old singer’s godfather Ben Vereen recently revealed he is “standing strong”.

He said: “I’m proud of [him] because he’s standing strong. It’s a terrible thing when a parent has to bury their child.

No parent should ever have to bury his or her child. So please continue your prayers for him and [his] family for strength and healing.”

Kile’s family kept a bedside vigil before making the heartbreaking decision to turn off his life support, but last week they asked for people to continue to pray for him.

They said in a statement: “We know God’s in control, and are leaning on our faith in Him and His word at this most difficult time.

“We firmly believe in the power of prayer and ask that you all continue to pray and lift Kile up, as it’s the best way we can all support him now.”

Before the accident, Usher had been in a legal battle with his ex-wife arising from a custody fight over their two sons, Usher Raymond V, four, and three-year-old Naviyd Ely Raymond, but they are thought to have put their
differences aside because of the tragedy.

Run-D.M.C. Producer Larry Smith Dead at 63

Larry Smith, producer of some of the most cherished hip-hop records of the Eighties, including Run-D.M.C. 's first two albums, died Thursday at the age of 63. Radio host Combat Jack broke the news on Twitter , writing: "Just spoke to his family. RIP Larry Smith, the original King of Beats who passed away last night." A Queens native, Smith began his career as a session musician and quickly struck up a partnership with Kurtis Blow after playing bass on "Christmas Rappin'."  Smith would continue to play on a number of Blow's tracks, co-writing a few as well, including the MC's breakthrough record, "The Breaks,"  which became the first rap record to be certified gold. Smith then began working with Blow's manager at the time, Russell Simmons. The two co-produced a handful of tracks for Jimmy Spicer – including the oft-sampled "Money (Dollar Bill Y'All)"  – before helping make hip-hop history with Run-D.M.C.'s
