DAD BEAT 4 MONTH OLD BABY SO BAD HE MAY GO BLIND

A former football player beat his four-month-old son to the brink of blindness and death, police said. 25-year-old Jaheel Robinson allegedly continually punched baby Cameron Kyle during the savage attack last week.
The baby suffered multiple injuries and has been hospitalized since Thursday on a ventilator and feeding tube. His brain and eyes are hemorrhaging and he will likely go blind.

‘He is very neurologically compromised,’ Assistant Norfolk District Attorney Lisa Beatty said. ‘His retinas have been separated from his eyes.

‘The baby will probably be blind.’
‘It is unclear at this point whether he will be able to survive,’ Beatty said. It’s the second time Cameron has been at Boston Children’s Hospital, having previously been admitted suffering sickness. During that hospital visit his father went against medical advice and pulled him out.

Appearing in court on Monday, Robinson pleaded not guilty to two counts of assault and battery on a child, having told police his son’s injuries were caused when he tripped and fell on a basement stair while carrying him last Thursday.

He claimed an old football injury had caused his knees to buckle, telling the Boston Herald: ‘I have the baby with me every day.

‘I know my son, and my son did nothing wrong,’ outside the courtroom.
But medical professionals said the boy’s condition was consistent with shaken baby syndrome, Beatty told the court.

Cameron’s mother called 911 early on Thursday morning after finding her boyfriend clutching the obviously hurt boy in the basement. He has been temporarily placed in the custody of the state Department of Children and Families.

Robinson is being held on $10,000 cash bail.
