VICTORY! OXYGEN OFFICIALLY DROPS THE AXE ON “ALL MY BABIES’ MAMAS”

Oxygen Media pulled the plug on “All My Babies’ Mamas,” a reality special the network was developing about a rapper who has fathered 11 children with 10 different mothers.

The network offered no reason for curtailing the project. In a statement issued Tuesday, Oxygen said that, “as part of our development process, we have reviewed casting and decided not to move forward with the special.”
The one-hour program would have featured Atlanta rap artist Shawty Lo, his children and their mothers. It was expected to air later this year on Oxygen, an NBCUniversal cable network owned by Comcast.

“All My Babies’ Mamas” got a hostile public reception after Oxygen announced it last month. At least one petition, started by Sabrina Lamb on change.org called for Oxygen to shut it down. The petition has collected more than 37,500 signatures.

The Parents Television Council called the program’s concept “grotesquely irresponsible and exploitive” and pledged to contact advertisers of the show if it reached the air.

Previously, Oxygen denied charges that the show was meant to be “a stereotypical representation of everyday life for any one demographic or cross section of society,” but rather would reveal “the complicated lives of one man, his children’s mamas and their army of children.”

On Tuesday, Oxygen said it will “continue to develop compelling content that resonates with our young female viewers and drives the cultural conversation.

Meanwhile Lo’s ex girlfriend Jai Jai posted a picture of her pregnant belly on Instagram (seen below). SMDH!
Lo responded to the criticism with this… “You can hate all you want to, I didn’t ask for it. It just happened,” he said in a response to the uproar. “If I wasn’t taking care of my kids then you would really dog me out, but I’m taking care of my kids, providing for my family. I don’t know what else to say.”

  

Lo hasn’t confirmed if the child is his, but if so, the reality TV producers will probably love this new development IF they decide to give the show the big ok.

Run-D.M.C. Producer Larry Smith Dead at 63

Larry Smith, producer of some of the most cherished hip-hop records of the Eighties, including Run-D.M.C. 's first two albums, died Thursday at the age of 63. Radio host Combat Jack broke the news on Twitter , writing: "Just spoke to his family. RIP Larry Smith, the original King of Beats who passed away last night." A Queens native, Smith began his career as a session musician and quickly struck up a partnership with Kurtis Blow after playing bass on "Christmas Rappin'."  Smith would continue to play on a number of Blow's tracks, co-writing a few as well, including the MC's breakthrough record, "The Breaks,"  which became the first rap record to be certified gold. Smith then began working with Blow's manager at the time, Russell Simmons. The two co-produced a handful of tracks for Jimmy Spicer – including the oft-sampled "Money (Dollar Bill Y'All)"  – before helping make hip-hop history with Run-D.M.C.'s
