A wild shootout on the Las Vegas Strip between a dueling Maserati and Range Rover culminated in an explosive car crash that left three people dead Thursday, including a Sin City rapper who bragged about keeping a gun stashed in his Maserati.
The action movie-style violence erupted about 4:20 a.m. when the black SUV with tinted windows and black wheel rims opened fire on the gray Maserati — driven by rapper Kenny Clutch — as they roared down Las Vegas Blvd., cops said.
Shown is a screengrab of rapper Kenny Clutch in a Maserati for his music video, “Stay Schemin” (seen below) filmed on the Las Vegas strip. Clutch was killed in a firey crash on the Vegas strip Thursday morning.
Clutch, 27, was hit by the barrage of bullets, ran a red light and collided with a taxi, causing a tremendous explosion steps from the Bellagio and Caesars Palace. The Oakland, Calif., native, whose real name was Ken Cherry, was believed to be a “well-known pimp,” according to the local CBS affiliate.
The driver of the cab, identified as Michael Boldon of Las Vegas, and an unidentified passenger also died. Both of their bodies were burned beyond recognition. “This is like something out of a movie. Like ‘Die Hard’ or something,” said Mark Thompson, who was visiting from Manchester, England, with his wife.
At least six people were also injured in a multicar crash that occurred when the shooting started, cops said. A passenger in Clutch’s car was shot and survived. Police were still searching for the gunman and Range Rover on Thursday night.
Cops said a dispute in the Aria casino’s valet parking lot may have led to the lethal pandemonium.
