THE IGNORANCE OF A$AP FERG

A$AP Ferg and his God Ralph Lauren. Both have nothing to do with Hip Hop Culture.
I ran across a recent post in AllHipHop.com where the rapper A$ap Ferg was quoted from a Complex Magazine interview concerning a meeting with designer Ralph Lauren saying: “It’s like meeting God in the flesh. It’s definitely spiritual,” said Ferg. “A prophet. He’s like Elijah Muhammad.”

Unfortunately, today's society has Ferg and many of his cohorts, fans and backers fooled and tricked into the knowledge of who God is and ultimately; who they are individually. Ferg's blasphemous comment is proof positive that he is walking in triple stage darkness and needs light shed upon him. If Ralph Lauren was a prophet, he would have foreseen the changing of the guards back in 2004 when his designer Max Wilson resigned after an 11-year stint with Lauren to head P. Diddy's women's collection. The "prophet" would have also been well aware that one of his former employees Jeffrey Tweedy, would move on to become Sean John’s executive vice president.

As for the "God in the flesh" comment, we have enough images of a white Jesus plastered across America and we don't need Ralph Lauren to be considered the next white God. A$ap Ferg summed up his entire standing in Hiphop Culture in that one sentence. Many of us know the teachings of the Honorable Elijah Muhammad and have grown and learned from these teachings. It is a foundation for a lot of us who came up in real Hip Hop Culture and we know that there are beasts of the field who want nothing more than to to taint the names, likenesses and images of our leaders, spiritual fathers and our God. It is, after all, the way of Yacub to denote and denounce whenever they have a chance.

What Complex Magazine should have done was redact God and Elijah Muhammad's name completely. Had A$ap Ferg had something to say about furthering HipHop Culture and building on our Culture, there would have been a million edits to take away from the importance of what needs to be said. Instead, the very wickedly wise editors and writers at Complex chose to allow this incredibly uneducated and ignorant young man to place God and Elijah Muhammad alongside a man who's clothing is designed in sweat shops of foreign countries and marked up to be sold to an even more ignorant fan base.

Hundreds of years after picking cotton while building this country, ignorant Black people are still "picking cotton" off the shelves of retail stores and calling the creators of the clothing "God" and "Elijah Muhammad." A$ap Ferg is kissing Ralph Lauren's ass for a few pieces of rags to make himself look just as ridiculous as he sounded in that interview. We do not condone or respect this statement and are appalled that A$ap Ferg took that route. This is not Hip Hop and Ralph Lauren is not God. He certainly never has done nor will he ever do for Black men what Elijah Muhammad has done.

It is more important than ever for our people to learn the teachings of Elijah Muhammad and for all who claim the Culture of Hip Hop to learn about the Universal Zulu Nation and Afrika Bambaataa who founded Hip Hop Culture. Far too many of you are blind, deaf and dumb to the knowledge of this beautiful and wonderful Culture. On behalf of the Universal Zulu Nation and Hip Hop Culture, I denounce A$ap Ferg's position on God, Eliah Muhammad and definitely on Hip Hop Culture. Rap is something you do, Hip Hop is how you live. A$ap Ferg is not living Hip Hop and therefore is not Hip Hop.

Peace, Unity, Love and Having Fun!
