White Man Convicted of 1st Degree Murder in Fla. Killing of Black Teen

Loud Music KillingJACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) — A jury has found a Florida man guilty of first-degree murder for fatally shooting a Black teenager after an argument over loud music outside a Jacksonville convenience store.

The jury reached its verdict Wednesday after more than five hours of deliberations.

Prosecutors say Michael Dunn shot with intent to kill when he fired 10 times into an SUV carrying 17-year-old Jordan Davis and three of his friends in November 2012.

Dunn testified that he thought his life was in danger. Davis was from Marietta, Georgia.

Dunn was convicted previously of three counts of attempted second-degree murder in February and already faces at least 60 years in prison.

The jury in the first trial deadlocked on the first-degree murder count, which led prosecutors to retry him in this case.

Run-D.M.C. Producer Larry Smith Dead at 63

Larry Smith, producer of some of the most cherished hip-hop records of the Eighties, including Run-D.M.C. 's first two albums, died Thursday at the age of 63. Radio host Combat Jack broke the news on Twitter , writing: "Just spoke to his family. RIP Larry Smith, the original King of Beats who passed away last night." A Queens native, Smith began his career as a session musician and quickly struck up a partnership with Kurtis Blow after playing bass on "Christmas Rappin'."  Smith would continue to play on a number of Blow's tracks, co-writing a few as well, including the MC's breakthrough record, "The Breaks,"  which became the first rap record to be certified gold.
