Boston's first Black radio station gains ground on Internet as WILD 2.0

48 years ago, WILD-AM hit the airwaves filling a void in Black music in a predominantly white city where the only radio stations broadcast formats of Top 40, Pop and Rock to name a few. The founder Ken Nash saw the potential in a community radio station and created programming that benefited the Black community with music, news and informative dialog.

Though it sounds easy, it was an incredible feat to accomplish, given WILD's limited airtime. The station's FCC only afforded them to broadcast until sundown. Summer months gave the listeners more time to hear the music and info on their beloved radio station located at 1090 on the AM dial.

In 1999, Radio One purchased WILD and sold it a few years later. WILD went off the air in 2011. The station re-emerged in the winter of 2011 as a digital Internet radio station. Founded by M.C. Spice, a former WILD intern and veteran broadcast producer and voice over artist, the all-new WILD 2.0 promises great Soul and R&B music from artists all over the world and proudly plays music by unsigned and independent artists. WILD 2.0 is located online at www.blackberrysoulradio.com
BlackBerry Soul Radio can also be found and played from the free app on www.tunein.com
