Braintree Police Officer Saves Girl's 10th Birthday

The little girl and her mom stayed in Claire's while dad searched the mall for red carts, hoping to find his daughter's purse with about $70 in cash and a Samsung Galaxy phone. Dad approached two officers on two separate occasions asking if anyone returned a red purse. Both officers directed dad to the lost and found area of the mall, where dad was told there was no returned purse.
On the other side of the mall. the girl and her mother waited to see if they could spot the kiddie cart or the purse. While waiting, the girl's mother told her a story about having faith and she assured her daughter the purse would turn up with all the contents. A man pushing a similar cart with a child in it was stopped by an Officer Derrick of the Braintree Police Department. Nearly thirty minutes later, Officer Derrick walked up to the child and her mother holding the lost purse. The happy child was so grateful, telling Officer Derrick: "Thank you. Today is my birthday." Officer Derrick was happy to help and wished her a happy birthday.
