Man Accused Of Threatening Driver’s Ed Students With Gun

MANCHESTER, N.H. (CBS) — A man accused of threatening a group of driver’s education students with a gun is now free on bail.
Joseph Duven, 22, of Manchester, N.H. is charged with four counts of criminal threatening and one count of falsifying physical evidence.
Driving instructor Marie Ramsdell was teaching three teens how to parallel park on Chestnut Street Tuesday evening when a man approached and knocked on the front passenger window.
The man, identified by police as Duven, allegedly threatened to shoot everyone in car if they hit his vehicle during the lesson. The instructor and her students told investigators Duven had a black and silver handgun on his hip when he made the threat.
“He was very clear,” Ramsdell said, Wednesday. “If the student hit his car he would shoot us,”

Ramsdell said she calmly allowed the 17-year-old student driver to finish parking before driving away and dialing 911.
“He handled it very well and he deserves his license, I’ll tell you,” Ramsdell said. “He did a great job. They all did.”

Officers later found Duven at the British Beer Company on South Willow Street and arrested him.
He was released on $3,000 cash bail and is due in court December 31.

Run-D.M.C. Producer Larry Smith Dead at 63

Larry Smith, producer of some of the most cherished hip-hop records of the Eighties, including Run-D.M.C. 's first two albums, died Thursday at the age of 63. Radio host Combat Jack broke the news on Twitter , writing: "Just spoke to his family. RIP Larry Smith, the original King of Beats who passed away last night." A Queens native, Smith began his career as a session musician and quickly struck up a partnership with Kurtis Blow after playing bass on "Christmas Rappin'."  Smith would continue to play on a number of Blow's tracks, co-writing a few as well, including the MC's breakthrough record, "The Breaks,"  which became the first rap record to be certified gold. Smith then began working with Blow's manager at the time, Russell Simmons.
