State Rep candidate Charles Clemons Muhammad names Social Media Director

Candidate for State Representative (11th Suffolk District) Charles Clemons Muhammad has named M.C. Spice as Social Media Director.  Spice will be the campaign's lead social media relations professional managing the digital communications and marketing initiatives and the vehicles that support them such as Muhammad’s website, TV show and social media presence.
 
Currently, Spice serves as executive creative director of marketing and communications for Shakir Multimedia, a Rhode Island based marketing & brand management company with clients past and present which include Def Jam Records, Clear Channel, Wendy Williams, Divas Working It Out, Phat Farm Clothing, Strickly Hiphop, METCO Directors Association and Calloway Entertainment.
 
“Our decision to recruit M.C. Spice as our new social media director didn't come without a thorough assessment process,” said campaign manager Bill Wright.  “M.C. Spice possesses and demonstrates a high level of skills as a progressive communications and marketing professional.  We are confident that Spice is prepared to expand our capability to reach the many different populations of our district through new and emerging media. Spice’s private sector experience will be especially valuable in thinking outside of the ‘government box’.”  
 
“Charles Clemons Muhammad is an all around great guy dedicated to his community and the people. The 11th Suffolk District needs his leadership, and I want to help Charles clinch the election,” said M.C. Spice. “I’m looking forward to rolling up my sleeves, leading the communications and social media strategy and making a difference for the people and community."


“I have personally witnessed M.C. Spice hard at work both in the community, and in his field of expertise. He's a hard worker and does not finish until the job is done. He's a peoples person and knows just about everybody. I'm glad to have him on the team," adds Charles Muhammad. 

Spice brings a diverse range of experience to the position having worked as a journalist, producer and executive public relations manager. 
 
M.C. Spice will begin his duties on July 20, 2016.

Run-D.M.C. Producer Larry Smith Dead at 63

Larry Smith, producer of some of the most cherished hip-hop records of the Eighties, including Run-D.M.C. 's first two albums, died Thursday at the age of 63. Radio host Combat Jack broke the news on Twitter , writing: "Just spoke to his family. RIP Larry Smith, the original King of Beats who passed away last night." A Queens native, Smith began his career as a session musician and quickly struck up a partnership with Kurtis Blow after playing bass on "Christmas Rappin'."  Smith would continue to play on a number of Blow's tracks, co-writing a few as well, including the MC's breakthrough record, "The Breaks,"  which became the first rap record to be certified gold. Smith then began working with Blow's manager at the time, Russell Simmons.
