PROVIDENCE, R.I. — An 18-year-old Natashza Charon of Providence, charged earlier this month with manslaughter after a stabbing in the Olneyville neighborhood was held without bail Tuesday after admitting she had violated bail on a prior charge, according to the Attorney General’s Office.

Natashza Charon was ordered held for 45 days at a Tuesday hearing in District Court, Providence.

Bail was also set Tuesday at $50,000 with surety on the new charge of manslaughter, spokeswoman Amy Kempe said.

Charon was charged on May 15 with manslaughter after the stabbing death two days earlier of Jaheim Carter, 15, of Providence.
When Charon was arrested, the police said that she and her boyfriend, whom they did not identify because he is a minor, had been walking on a Saturday afternoon near the intersection of Amherst and Julian Streets. The police said a car carrying Carter, one of Carter’s brothers, and two others stopped when they saw the couple walking. A fight ensued.
The police said that Charon stabbed Carter in the back during the altercation. Providence Police Maj. David Lapatin said the fight was related to an ongoing dispute between Carter’s family and the family of Charon’s boyfriend.
Charon faces earlier charges from April — a felony drug possession charge, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct — court records show.
She is due in court on June 26 for a bail review, on July 11 for a pre-arraignment conference on those April charges and on Aug. 7 for a pre-arraignment conference on the manslaughter charge, court records show.
