December 15, 2017 – Sacramento, California: For nearly thirty years, Black Market Records has been instrumental in cultivating the talents of artists like X-Raided and Brotha Lynch Hung, whose music charted twice while signed to the label. Founder Cedric Singleton and partner Rod Singleton know great talent and opportunity when it presents itself and the two have ventured to add some seriously talented international acts to the long-standing label.

Black Market Records is widely known for its Hiphop music and artists released over the years but promises more music from various genres, including Reggae, Dancehall, R&B and Reggaeton. In fact, Black Market’s Nestaly has been likened to Jay-Z and Notorious B.I.G. in the Reggaeton circuit, with an infectious flow all his own over even more addictive rhythms that captivate the crowd and is sure to keep station’s phones ringing for more.

To call Black Market’s new Reggae/Dancehall artist Jemineye a Reggae star is an understatement. The young man has obviously did some studying and presents like a professional Dancehall artists whose been there; done that. His “Hello Money” is a new-age Buju Banton-style and flow with an incredibly ridiculous backing track full of promise for the clubs.

Look for fresh product from Gio, Keyel, Troyano and Noni Blanco as Black Market Records brings in the New Year with “The Lost-Found Black Market Records.” True to form, the label is headed for another 30-Plus years of massive success with these hit artists and music.

As if Black Market hasn’t outdone itself with the presentation of these new acts and musical genres, the addition of Amir “M.C. Spice” Shakir as the head of the newly-created Creative Services Department will bring the much-needed edge to the ever-evolving label and brand. As Creative Director, veteran music producer, broadcast specialist and songwriter responsible for hits by Mark Wahlberg, Amir Shakir promises brand awareness and a re-branding and worldwide marketing of the label to usher in the new sound and demographic.

With the installment of Shakir, Black Market’s Kim Bush will wear a second hat as Assistant Creative Director. Amir Shakir aka Quadeer Shakur has a 31-year-history in both radio and music, having served as a Street Team Director for Def Jam Records for nearly seventeen years. He also served as Street Team for Gee Street Records and was the voice over artist for the Wendy Williams and Howard Stern radio show simultaneously.

Amir served as Minister of Information for the Universal Zulu Nation since 1997 and is Creative Director for BlackBerry Radio. As a veteran radio promoter and Marketing Director, Amir’s roster of radio stations included Clear Channel’s prominent Power 99FM in Philadelphia and WOWI-FM in Norfolk, Virginia. He once served as Morning show host and Creative Director of Washington D.C.’s first Hiphop and Go-Go music station, Flava 1580/WPGC-AM along with Damon Williams of Music Choice TV. Currently, Amir’s voice-over work can be heard on The Art of Rap tour TV and radio commercials, various concert advertisements, product ads and radio imaging.

As Creative Director for Black Market Records, Amir Shakir promises to push Black Market to its limits and expand the reach of the iconic music label.

“Black Market Records is in a perfect position right now and our brand’s global re-launch will set the precedence for excellence in entertainment and music endeavors, which will place our artists and brand front and center across all mediums and social platforms. We welcome and are very ready for the coming technological advances, that will only serve to expand those platforms and widen our audiences”, said Shakir in a recent interview.

Black Market Records’ Label Administrator, Kim Bush is excited to have Shakir on board, exclaiming: “Amir’s first-hand knowledge of the marketing aspect is tantamount to Black Market’s success as we venture into new territory and implement new ideas and strategies to push our artists to greater heights. We are eager to work with a music industry veteran who has forged valuable relationships with radio and record industry individuals and who has shown his loyalty to Black Market Records from day one.”
